Arab MK: I didn’t meet with Nasrallah

Nazareth-based al-Sinnara is set to publish in its Friday edition that Israeli Arab MK Talab el-Sana met senior Hizbullah officials in Damascus; MK does not deny meetings with senior Syrian members of parliament, ministers, including Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa

Israeli Arab MK Talab el-Sana on Thursday refuted rumors that he had met Hizbullah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah on his last visit to Damascus.

The Nazareth-based al-Sinnara is set to publish in its Friday edition that el-Sana met senior Hizbullah officials in Damascus.

El-Sana did not deny however that he held meetings with senior Syrian members of parliament and a number of ministers, including Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa.

He said the meeting with the “big leader” lasted one-and-a-half hours. The two discussed the strained relations between Washington and Damascus in light of the developments in Iraq, the Palestinian territories, and Lebanon, where a U.N. team has implied Syrian officials in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

“The visit was great, exciting and important,” El-Sana told Ynet.

He apparently enjoyed the seven-day-long visit to the point that he would have never returned had he not missed his wife.

El-Sana’s visit is in breach of Israeli law which forbids citizens from visiting enemy countries. The Interior Ministry had turned down a permission request by the Israeli Arab MK, citing that he did not present sufficient justifications for the trip.

Israeli Arab MKs Azmi Bishara and Ahmed Tibi breached the ban in the past with visits to Syria and Lebanon.
