Police, IDF investigating shooting attack south of Mount Hebron where Israeli Arab was moderately injured; initial investiagtion reveals attack was carried out due to dispute between families in the area
A 39-year-old Israeli Arab was shot and moderately injured Friday near the Yatir checkpoint south of Mount Hebron. He was treated by Magen David Adom rescue teams and was transported to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheba.
An initial police investigation reveals that the shooting attack was carried out due to a dispute between families in the Hirbat Carmel area.
Two shots were fired at a Subaru-type vehicle which fled towards the Yata village. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
Earlier it was not yet clear whether the attack was criminally and nationally motivated.
Two weeks ago, 31-year-old father of five Yossi Shok was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting south of Hebron.
Shok, who was shot in the head, was taken to Hadassah Ein-Kerem hospital in the capital by helicopter, but doctors were unable to save him.
The Fatah's al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades and Islamic Jihad's al-Quds Brigades claimed joint responsibility for the attack, saying it came in response to recent targeted killings by Israel.
An initial examination revealed gunmen traveling in a vehicle opened fire at an Israeli car traveling on Highway 60 in the West Bank around 12:30 p.m. The attackers managed to flee the scene.
