Two IDF soldiers injured in West Bank town of Jenin early Wednesday during operation to apprehend wanted Palestinian terror suspects. Probe into recent terror attack at IDF checkpoint south of Tul Karm reveals attack carried out by two suicide bomber, not one as previously thought
Two IDF soldiers were injured in the West Bank town of Jenin early Wednesday during an operation to apprehend wanted Palestinian terrorist suspects in the area.
One soldier sustained moderate injuries while another was lightly wounded. One terror suspect, a member of Tanzim, was also injured in the incident.
During the operation soldiers surrounded the wanted terrorist’s house; exchanges of fire ensued as the suspect was attempting to flee the scene, and one IDF soldier sustained moderate injuries, as did the suspect.
Later, Palestinians opened fire from an alley at the soldiers, lightly injuring one of them. Both soldiers were evacuated to the Haemek hospital in Afula for treatment.

Meanwhile, the results of an investigation into the recent terror attack at an IDF checkpoint south of Tul Karm has been cleared for publication. The investigation into the attack, in which IDF soldier First Lieutenant Uri Binamo was killed while confronting terrorists, revealed that two explosions took place as soldiers were inspecting a taxi cab.
Initially IDF officials assumed that just one suicide bomber blew himself up in the attack, but investigators revealed that two bombers detonated themselves.
The findings also showed that the two bombers were planning an attack on a densely-populated central Israel target. The bombers’ driver was apprehended in Tul Karm the following day. The second terrorist’s explosives belt was apparently set off as a result of the first explosion.
On Wednesday IDF soldiers shot dead the head of Hamas’ military wing in Tul Karm; explosives weighing dozens of kilos were found in the terrorist’s home.
