The list of names, which includes I.D. numbers and addresses of employees, was posted on the official website of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor Wednesday.
The sensitive details appeared on the site after the publication of a new agreement recently signed between the Industry ministry and the Finance Ministry setting the employment terms of staff at the center.
However, while the law stipulates that such agreements are made public, the Industry Ministry failed to omit the names of the Dimona employees from the publication.
The grave error was discovered hours after the publication of the erroneous publication. Information security specialists were alarmed and the names were eventually deleted from the site.
'Steps taken to prevent similar incidents'
The ministry admitted to the mistake and said that “according to the law, the public should have access to view collective agreements. In this case, the source that passed on the agreement did not warn of the secrecy act, and therefore the agreement was published entirely. After we were alarmed of the mistake, we removed the names from the website.”
“The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor has taken steps to prevent similar incidents in the future, and will approach different parties to be careful enough to point out information that should not be published,” a ministry official added.
