Website: Olmert member of Hamas

Site affiliated with Likud activists posts photo of acting PM wearing Hamas hat

Kadima called on Attorney General Menachem Mazuz Monday to launch an investigation after a video published on a Likud-affiliated website showed Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert wearing a green Hamas hat.

The video shows Olmert wearing the hat with designated Palestinian Prime Minister and Hamas leader Ismail Haniya behind him, while tunes of the Israeli national anthem play in the background – only with lyrics of Palestinian song "Biladi, Biladi" (Arabic for "my country, my country.")

Other shots in the video also show mixed logos of Hamas and Kadima and slogans like "Olmert gives money to Hamas", and "Olmert – a strategic threat to Israel".

Sources in Kadima said they are angered by what they characterized as incitement against the acting PM, adding that the website has hosted Likud ministers and Knesset members.

"The website 'I'm Likudnik,' which is used by members of the Likud is another example of incitement by Bibi and his friends, like every time they feel under pressure. The attorney general should launch an immediate investigation to curb this incitement campaign," Kadima said.

The Likud, however, said the site in question is not the official party website.

"We have no control or supervision over its contents. People who wish to find out information about the Likud's positions…are invited to visit the Likud's official website".

The content editor of "I'm Likudnik", Arik Ziv, said in response: "The website's legal consultant will examine the complaints. In any case, I don't see any incitement in the published material."

Ziv also confirmed that he watched the video before it was put on the website.
