Religious Zionist leaders back Kadima

Some 40 prominent representatives of movement expected to arrive at Olmert’s office to declare their support for his party. Former Gaza settler: Joining Kadima, a party whose leaders were responsible for the uprooting of my family from Ele Sinai, is very difficult for me

Some 40 prominent representatives of the Religious Zionist movement are expected to arrive at Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s office to declare their support for Kadima.

The senior figures, among them former Shin Bet official Menachem Landau, are continuously gathering supporters from within the movement.

Former Ele Sinai settlement secretary Hagai Levy, who is also among those joining Kadima, told Ynet “Joining Kadima, a party whose leaders were responsible for the uprooting of my family from Ele Sinai, is very difficult for me. I am joining Kadima because we have reached a decisive time regarding the defining of the State of Israel’s permanent borders, if not those of the Land of Israel.

“I am doing this to take care of my fellow evacuees, who have been mistreated, and because someone will have to deal with the future evacuees as we look towards stable borders for the State of Israel in the next four years,” he said.

Former National Religious Party MK and deputy foreign minister Yehuda Ben-Meir said “I support Kadima because the party is a centrist one that represents all sectors of the population.”
