IDF troops uncover explosives lab
Forces discover 30 kilograms of explosives, four ready-to-use bombs; IDF strikes in Gaza
IDF forces belonging to the Nahal brigade uncovered an Islamic Jihad explosives lab west of Jenin early Wednesday.
Troops found 30 kilograms (66 pounds) of explosives at the lab as well as four ready-to-use explosive devices. The explosives were blown up in a controlled detonation.
Meanwhile, the Air Force struck a Gaza structure used as headquarters of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades overnight. The army said the site was used to recruit terror activists and as an operational headquarters.
The Palestinians said the office attacked belonged to the Fatah's youth organization. No injuries were reported.
The IDF said "the aerial attack was carried out in the wake of ongoing terror attacks that include the firing of rockets from Gaza communities at Israeli communities."
"The IDF will continue to act with boosted strength and using all means at its disposable against any element that perpetrates terror or backs it," the army added.
In recent days, the IDF boosted operations against Palestinian terror group in Gaza and has struck numerous targets since the weekend, including two training camps in Gaza.
Responding to a recent operation, Army Chief Dan Halutz said "the terrorists are the ones who select the operation zones. They choose where to operate from, we don't dictate to them."
The chief of staff noted that information received by the IDF in recent days showed Qassam launching cells are facing some distress in the face of the intensive military activity.
