Suicide bomber attacks security checkpoint in Iraq; 8 killed

A suicide car bomber slammed into a security checkpoint outside Baqouba on Sunday, killing at least eight people and wounding four others, police said. The explosion occurred around 8:40 P.M. near a checkpoint Iraqi soldiers had put up a day earlier to provide security in the aftermath of a U.S.-led bombing on a safe house being used by al-Qaida in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was killed in the blast.

Among those injured in the attack were seven Iraqi soldiers and one civilian. Three other Iraqi soldiers and a women were injured in the attack. (AP)
