PRC: Tears in Sderot show rockets work

Palestinians behind Qassam attacks encouraged by Sderot demonstrations, not put off by Peretz's threats; In Ynet interview, Popular Resistance Committees spokesman says attacks will stop 'when Israelis protest Gaza shellings'

Sderot is on strike, Defense Minister Amir Peretz is increasing his threats, but Qassam shooters have no intention of holding fire.

In an interview with Ynet, a spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees said: "We'll continue to pulverize them, and all of the senior figures are in the crosshairs."

Muhammad Abd al-A'al, whose organization launched rockets at Sderot during the visit of President Moshe Katsav to the city, said that members of the Committees deliberately timed the rocket attack to coincide with the president's visit.

"Following reports of a hunger strike, we knew that the heads of state and army would arrive in the city. When exact information was received – we fired," he said.

Palestinian organizations are apparently greatly encouraged by the demonstrations in Sderot. They flooded their media with photographs of protests and hunger strikes, to prove the Israeli "defeat."

'Tears are good'

"We wanted to show the effectiveness of the rockets to all those who criticize the rockets from home and say that it is useless. The protest and tears of Sderot only prove that the rockets are very effective. This is good news for the Palestinian people, and proof that the resistance is working," he added.

"Anyone who is involved with the killing of Palestinians is from our perspective a target for rockets. We have a strategic, detailed map of Sderot and the area, according to which we know where all of the strategic facilities are, including the homes of senior figures, and the home of Amir Peretz. And yes, we intend to continue to shoot and hit them," said al-A'al.

"For over five years the Israeli army has attempted all forms of fighting against us to stop the firing of Qassams and the resistance. They carried out assassinations from the air and the land. They used various methods and killing within the Palestinian territory. And nothing helped.

"When thousands of soldiers accompanied by the Air Force and navy worked deep within our territory in Jabalya, the firing didn't stop – it is only increasing. We are prepared for each and everyone of us to be killed, but be sure that new fighters will always rise," al-A'al concluded.
