Kibbutz Saad to provide packaging for IKEA products
Swedish company appoints Syfan company, owned by Kibbutz Saad, as chain's supplier of pure polyolefin shrink film products worldwide
IKEA International has appointed the Syfan company, owned by Kibbutz Saad, as the chain's supplier of pure polyolefin shrink film products worldwide.
IKEA has more than 2,500 stores worldwide with several subsidiary companies which manufacture the self-assembled furniture sold by the chain. The Israeli company was appointed following a visit by IKEA representatives who came to Israel to inspect the Saad plant.
According to the plant manager, Matanya Rafal, the scope of the deal in the first year of activity will total approximately USD 2.5 million with the aim of increasing it by 50 percent in the following year.
The management at IKEA International decided to change the carton packaging of some of its products to polyolefin packaging. The main reason for this was to save on the costs of packaging and storage volume of finished products, and to enable easier and faster identification of the product arriving from the plant to the store.
In the first phase, the sheets manufactured by Kibbutz Saad will be used for packaging self-assembled furniture from the LACK series of products sold at IKEA Israel. IKEA plans to expand the use of these sheets to other product lines as well.
