Kidnapped troop’s mother: PM not doing enough
Miki Goldwasser during Technion rally, ‘We must find alternative solutions through negotiations; we were against the war from the beginning’
Miki Goldwasser, the mother of kidnapped IDF soldier Ehud, said Wednesday that “Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s promise to do all he can to return the troops is not enough.”
Goldwasser spoke at a student rally held at the Technion in Haifa.
“I’m frustrated,” Goldwasser continued, ”four months have passed and we haven’t’ even received a sign of life. We must find alternative solutions through negotiations. We were against the war from the beginning.”

Miki Leibowitz, Goldwasser’s friend and the head of the campaign to free the abducted soldiers, said, “There is no question of price here, Mr. Prime Minister; you must make brave decisions and do everything to bring Udi (Ehud), Eldad (Regev) and Gilad (Shalit) home.”
The two soldiers being held in Lebanon were due to begin their studies this year; Goldwasser enrolled at the Technion, and Regev at Bar-Ilan University.
“Israel’s first prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, said every Hebrew mother puts her children’s fate in the hands of worthy commanders. He certainly did not mean today’s commanders, who are involved in wars between the generals and are not doing enough to return the kidnapped troops,” Leibowitz added.
Student Union Head Mona Davidovitch said, “It is our duty to make our voices heard. Public pressure begets more public pressure.”
Tomer Weinberg, the soldier who was in the IDF vehicle with Goldwasser when it was attacked by Hizbullah terrorists, was also at the rally.
Miki Goldwasser embraced Tomer, who was injured in the attack, and then called out,” Rise up today to help us bring Udi home.”
