IDF forces killed an armed operative from the al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigades Saturday morning near Nablus, during exchanges of fire with Palestinian gunmen.
Explosives were launched at the soldiers during the gun-battle, but resulted in no ensuing IDF casualties.
The exchange of fire took place as a paratroopers force operated in the area in an attempt to detain wanted operatives. Palestinians opened fire on the force near the Kasbah region, throwing explosives and two improvised grenades.
The soldiers located three of the gunmen, returned fire and killed one of them. Palestinian security forces said that the fatality is Amin Mahlouf, 19, of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades – Fatah's military wing.
In a different operation, also focused on finding wanted operatives, two such operatives were detained in Hebron.
Thursday, a special police force killed Muhammad Ramaha, the commander of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Fatah's military wing, during an operation in the al-Ain refugee camp, near Nablus.
Military sources reported that the forces, operating against wanted Palestinians, opened fire at gunmen, killing the al-Aqsa commander and injuring his assistant. The operation targeted Ramaha, who was involved in several terror attacks on Israel.
A senior al-Aqsa commander threatened in a conversation with Ynet that its members would respond by launching a suicide bombing in Israel .
"Israel has proved one again that there is no other language it understands apart from force, and we will respond in the language with a painful suicide bombing," he warned.
