Following Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz's claim that the IDF soldier who was present during the incident in Hebron where a settler attacked a Palestinian woman was unauthorized to intervene, the Yesh Din human rights association said that "the defense minister's ignorance in dangerous."
In a letter sent by the association to Peretz and the ministerial committee established for law enforcement in Hebron it was written that "the fact that the defense minister is unaware that IDF soldiers already have full authority to arrest Israelis harming Palestinians and their property is unfortunate."
