Finance Minister Abraham Hirchson may be forced to leave his position just after Pesach, according to sources in the ministry.

Hirchson, who is under investigation for suspected involvement in the embezzlement of funds from a non-profit organization, is scheduled to be questioned again just after the holiday, and finance ministry officials expect he will resign directly after.

The minister would be presented with all of the evidence against him during the coming questioning, making it a “crucial” one, police sources said.

Finance ministry officials said that it was becoming increasingly difficult to manage the ministry due to the investigation. “Minister Hirchson is under investigation and his mind is not free to deal with the affairs of the finance ministry,” officials said.

Former Justice Minister Haim Ramon was expected to take Hirchson’s place, according to the sources. Another possible replacement for Hirchson is Interior Minister Ronnie Bar-On.
