Emmy organization appoints Israeli 'ambassador'

JCS chief appointed as Emmy's ambassador, aimed at promoting academy and its activities worldwide

As part of its new "ambassador program" the international Emmy organization, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, has appointed Gaby Rosenberg, the CEO of the Jerusalem Capital Studios Group (JCS), to the post of Israel's "ambassador."

The organization announced Thursday that it had inaugurated the "ambassador program" in which active members of the academy volunteer on behalf of the academy to serve as representatives in their countries.

The objective is to promote the academy and its activities worldwide, and to encourage producers and local broadcasting organizations in their respective countries to increase the number of candidates for the international Emmy prizes. The academy's management hopes the program will heighten participation of existing academy members in the competitions and would encourage new members to join.

According to Bruce Paisner, the academy's president, as the world's largest broadcasting organization, the academy has the mandate to become the representative of all TV culture worldwide. He said their ambassadors would help them achieve this goal by promoting membership in the academy and in educating producers worldwide as to the way in which they can enter the international Emmy awards competition and gain recognition from their colleagues.

Members of the academy from eight countries have already joined the ambassador program including France, Australia, Germany, Norway, England and Israel.

Gaby Rosenberg noted that he had agreed to take the role of ambassador in the aim of bringing the Israeli TV industry closer to the stage and to international recognition. Within this role, he said he hopes to hold an event where he will present the possibilities Emmy provides in forming real ties between prominent Israeli producers and the international Emmy organization - a connection that would lead to international recognition and real business opportunities.
