EU's relationship with Russia risks going badly wrong, says EU trade chief

The EU trade commissioner will call for rules to govern the global energy trade during a conference Friday in Italy, saying EU-Russia relations could go very wrong as mistrust over energy issues builds on both sides.

"Both believe the other is using the energy weapon as an instrument of politics," EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson will say at the meeting in Bologna, according to prepared remarks released by his Brussels office before the conference. (AP)
