Rival gangs torch houses, fight in East Timor following election

Gangs torched houses and fought in East Timor, injuring around 14 people, as violence broke out following East Timor's presidential elections, police and party officials said Tuesday.

The country's ruling party, whose candidate lost last week's polls, said its members were being attacked by those of the winner, Nobel Peace Prize winner Jose Ramos-Horta. Police declined to say who the victims were. (AP)
