Abbas, Haniyeh convene meeting in secret - official
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah met on Wednesday with Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas in the Gaza Strip in an attempt to ease factional tensions and renew a ceasefire with Israel.
Palestinian cabinet spokesman Ghazi Hamad said the meeting was held at an undisclosed location. An earlier meeting had been cancelled after Israeli officials said Haniyeh could be a target of an Israeli attack. (Reuters)
