Stock market moves shop

Tel Aviv Stock Exchange signs 11 million dollar real-estate deal, expected to move to new headquarters in three years

The stock exchange is moving to a new location opposite the Azrieli Center in Tel Aviv.

An $11 million dollar deal was signed with the Meir family who owns the center and the surrounding land.

Currently, 180 people are employed by the stock exchange; however CEO Esther Levanon said the number was expected to grow by 20 percent after the new building is completed in three years time.

The new building will replace the stock exchange headquarters, which has been located in central Tel Aviv for 25 years. Levanon said that many alternatives were considered before deciding to move to a new location.

The new building’s biggest attraction will be a podium devoted to launching trading days, such as that in the New York Stock Exchange. In addition, the new building will have a visitors’ center with a capacity of up to 300 people.
