Two Qassam rockets fired from Gaza Wednesday landed in the southern city of Sderot just before 2 pm.
The attack came after a morning of fierce fighting between IDF forces and gunmen in the Strip, during which at least 12 Palestinians were killed.
One rocket fell in the parking lot of one of the factories in the city’s industrial zone, causing slight damage to the site. One woman suffered from shock.
The second rocket landed in an open area and caused no injuries or damage.
The al-Quds Brigades, Islamic Jihad’s armed wing, claimed responsibility for the attack.
During the fighting in Gaza a senior member of the organization’s rocket unit was killed when his car exploded.
“This is a major blow for us,” one Islamic Jihad member said. Israeli military officials denied that the gunman was killed in an air strike, as the Palestinians had claimed.
Earlier on Wednesday a third Qassam rocket landed in the Sderot area. No injuries or damage were reported.
