Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee: IDF appointment methods faulty
The Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee ruled that the method of appointing major-generals for the Israel Defense Forces was faulty. In a report submitted to IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, the committee recommended new legislation to control appointments and promotions of officers to the rank of major-general.
Committee member, MK Effie Eitam (National Union-National Religious) said, "We have found that a significant part of the IDF's senior commanding chain was not fit for battle." (Amnono Meranda)
