Live Earth, Israel style

15,000 Israelis gather in Rabin Square to hear Teapacks, Mosh Ben-Ari and others

Some 15,000 Israelis gathered in Rabin Square in Tel Aviv Saturday night in order to take part in the world-wide, 24-hour Live Earth concert, intended to raise public awareness of global warming and other ecological disasters.

The Israeli artists taking part in the event were Korin Alal, Mosh Ben-Ari, Efrat Gosh, and the bands Teapacks, and Shotei Hanevuah.

"The role of music here is to send a message," Korin Alal told Ynet. "It sends a message to the world. It gets on stage and the world comes to listen. It's an opportunity for people here to understand a deeper issue."

Alal sang the song 'Antarctica', which she dedicated to the continent, "so that it would take good care of itself."

When asked about her part in helping the environment, Alal said that she plants and takes care of trees, raises animals at home and refrains from using nylon.
