Idan Tal has joined Israeli Premier League champion Beitar Jerusalem from English side Bolton.

Tal was expected to take part in his first Beitar training session in Jerusalem on Wednesday and sign a three-year deal worth an estimated $500,000 a year after undergoing a medical exam, the team said.

Tal, who played for Everton earlier in his career, moved back to England last summer from Maccabi Haifa. But he failed to make an impact at Bolton, with only 16 appearances last season — 12 of them as substitute — and one goal.

Beitar won its first championship in nine years in May, and will play Danish champion FC Copenhagen in the Champions League's second qualifying round.

The 31-year-old midfielder is a veteran of the Israeli national team, with six goals in 67 games.
