Arab contestant voted off 'A Star Is Born'

Miriam Tukahn, considered a favorite of audience and judges, loses audience support and voted off hit show

The only Arab contestant in the Israeli version of 'American Idol' was voted off last night. The viewers that have so far favored the 25-year-old law student from I’billin failed to give her their support last night. Tukahn made history last week when she sang in Arabic for the first time in the show's five-season history.

Despite her dismissal, Tukahn promises this is not the end of her musical career, but the beginning. "I never dreamt of exposure of such magnitude. This is the most important thing I got from this experience," she said. "I am fine, I am sad because I have to say goodbye to the friends I made on the show. I hate goodbyes.

"I want to thank all of the people who supported me. The judges and the audience. At the end of the show the judges hugged me and said they loved my voice. I know this is not the end of the road for. I will continue, I promise."

Planning a record?

"Yes, I promise."

So, what will you do now; become a lawyer or a singer, or perhaps both?

"Both, she will graduate from law school and continue singing. It's in her blood," said Tukahn's father, Wassim.

A message recently published on Tukahn's official website claimed that she decided to quit the show because of the racist responses she was exposed to during the competition. Tukahn denied the message and said she will continue until the end which, unfortunately for her, came last night.
