Hooters in Netanya

The American restaurant chain will open its first branch in Israel in October

The American restaurant chain Hooters will open its first Israeli branch in Ramat Poleg. The opening, likely to cause controversy, is scheduled to take place in October. The restaurant will spread over 350 square meters, will feature an open kitchen and many large screen TVs.

The Hooters chain is renowned for its unique concept: The Hooters girls who wear skimpy "athletic" uniforms and are a major element in creating the restaurants' fun atmosphere.

The first Hooters was opened in Florida in 1983 and the chain has grown into an international franchise with 440 branches in 23 countries around the world.

The Israeli team is currently being trained in the chain's center in Atlanta, with the goal of offering Israeli diners the same experience they would encounter in any other branch. The menu is based on traditional American cuisine featuring hamburgers, buffalo wings, sea food, salads and alcoholic beverages.

The Israeli entrepreneurs responsible for the initiative are Ilana and Ofer Ahiraz who used to visit Hooters branches every time they were in the US. They said that "the idea of opening a Hooters in Israel stemmed from the tremendous need people in this country have of breaking loose, having a good time and enjoying an atmosphere that is all about fun."
