Tel Aviv beach film festival
A beach film festival on the Tel Aviv promenade will mark end of summer events
A moment before the beaches close for the winter and the announcement of fall is officially made, Tel Aviv is offering film enthusiasts a beach festival that will last four days during the Sukkot holiday. During the festival, which begins on September 29th at the Banana Beach on the Tel Aviv promenade, short films produced by students of the Minshar School of Visual Arts, along with other films from around the world, will be screened nightly on giant screens with all-around sound.
The festival's opening film, on the Saturday night, will be the musical "Ray" by director Taylor Hackford based on the biography of Ray Charles.
Additional films include "The Curse of the Golden Flower" by director Zhang Yimou, "The Secrets" by Israeli film director Avi Nesher and the thriller "The Departed," directed by Martin Scorsese starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Martin Sheen.
It's worth taking a blanket along.
