2008 State Budget to be submitted to Knesset Monday
Finance Ministry pushes up submission of budget to offer MKs ample time to study it before plenum vote
The 2008 State Budget, totaling some NIS 304 billion ($76 billion), will be submitted to Knesset on Monday with the opening of its winter session.
Also on Monday, Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On is expected to take part in a Finance Committee meeting on prioritizing the budget. He is schedule to present the Budget Law to the plenum prior to the first reading in two weeks' time.
The Finance Ministry pushed up the submission of the budget this year to offer MKs ample time to study it before the plenum vote.
The main point of controversy is expected to revolve around the clauses in the Economic Arrangements Law, and it is estimated that a final draft of the law will be submitted just prior to the first reading on the Budget Law.
