South Korea's parliament voted Monday to launch an independent investigation into fraud allegations against the leading presidential candidate just days before the vote.
Rivals of conservative Lee Myung-bak called on him to quit the campaign, but analysts said it was too late to turn the tide of a race that he has dominated for months. On Monday, all 160 lawmakers in attendance at the 299-seat National Assembly approved the bill for the independent counsel, with members of Lee's conservative opposition Grand National Party boycotting.(AP)
