Poland's new government asked the president on Tuesday to approve plans under which the country's
900 troops in Iraq would pull out by October next year.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has clashed with conservative President Lech Kaczynski, who has opposed a troop withdrawal so soon. The request for a final extension of Poland's military mission in Iraq until October 2008 was presented as a compromise. (Reuters)
