Ivo Pogorelić to perform in Israel

Croatian pianist surprises fans, announces he will be joining the Eilat Jazz Festival, opening next week. 'I'm coming to Israel and bringing Beethoven with me' he says

Croatian pianist Ivo Pogorelić, widely considered one of the best in the world, is scheduled to perform in Israel next week.

 

"I love the Israeli audience," Pogorelić told Yedioth Ahronoth Sunday, "so I'm coming to Israel and bringing Beethoven with me."

 

"I'm looking for the secret to the sound," he said adding he plans on performing Beethoven's Opus 78 - Piano Sonata No. 24 in F major, (nicknamed "A Thérèse"), the Für Elise" ("Bagatelle in A minor") and Beethoven's last sonnet.

 

Pogorelić will be the guest of the annual Eilat Jazz Festival. He takes the stage on Saturday, January 5.
