Some 67% of the venture capital managers in Israel do not believe the market slump noted in the US will affect the Israeli high-tech scene, the annual VC Indicator survey revealed Wednesday.

The survey, preformed by the Deloitte Brightman Almagor financial consulting company, is the 22nd of its kind and includes partners and investment managers in over 40 venture capital funds.

Most of the survey's participants showed little optimism regarding the local market: Only 10% believed the Israeli market will pick-up in the next six months; 27% believe it may take a turn for the worse and 63% think it will remain unchanged.

As for the American market, 50% believe the US is heading for a recession, but only 30% think such a recession will have any effect on the Israeli market. Moreover, 77% believe the dollar's ongoing slump in world markets will not affect the local high-tech industry.

And what does 2008 have in store for the Israeli companies trading on the NASDAQ? Their situation, predicted the poll, will not differ much, as 38% of the venture capital managers see IPOs from three to six Israeli high-tech companies and 21% predict sever or eight companies will make the move.
