Shahar Peer makes Australian open finals

Israeli tennis player Shahar Peer, along with Belarusian partner Victoria Azarenka, defeated Chinese pair Zi Yan and Jie Zheng 6:0, 5:7, 6:7(3) Wednesday to make the women’s doubles final of the Australian Open tennis tournament.
Peer and her partner will receive a $223,000 cash prize. Their rivals for the tournament finals have not yet been determined.
Earlier Wednesday, Israeli duo Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram defeated French pair Marc Gicquel and Fabrice Santoro 4:6, 1:6 Wednesday to make the semi-finals of the Australian open tournament.
This is the best placement for the Israeli pair since the Wimbledon tournament of 2003.
In the semi-finals, Ram and Erlich are scheduled to compete against Mahesh Bhupathi of India, and Mark Knowles of the Bahamas.
