A day after Shahar Peer and her Belarusian partner Victoria Azarenka reached the women’s doubles final of the Australian Open tennis tournament, the Israeli duo Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich duplicated the achievement and made the finals of the men's event with a 6:4 6:4 victory early Thursday over Mahesh Bhupathi (India) and Mark Knowles (Bahamas).

Bhutapi and Knowles upset top-ranked American duo Bob and Mike Bryan in the quarter-finals.

In the finals on Saturday, Ram and Erlich, ranked eighth in the tournament, are scheduled to face Frenchmen Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra (7).

This will be the Israeli pair's first-ever appearance in the finals of a Grand Slam tournament. In 2003 they reached the semi-finals round of Wimbledon.
