Liz Magnes brings Israeli audiences her very own interpretation to Western, Eastern, modern jazz piano, along with some surprising new arrangements for music by Matti Caspi and Sasha Argov
Pianist Liz Magnes is coming to Israel: New York and Cincinnati's own Liz Magnes will perform in Jerusalem on Monday, at the invitation of Beit Avi Cahi.
Beit Avi Cahi, of the AviI Chai Foundation, is one of Jerusalem's larger cultural centers.
Magnes, who is renowned for her extraordinary approach to jazz piano and the meshing of World Music, will share with her Israeli audience her new sound – a blend of American and Middle Eastern jazz, and interpretations of Turkish, Yemeni and Moroccan sound.
Included in the show will also be some of Magnes' originals, some of the best of George Gershwin's, as well as surprises in the form of special arrangements for the music of Matti Caspi and Sasha Argov.

Magnes started playing the piano at the age of five and headed her own solo concert at the age of 15. Classically trained by the Sarah Lawrence College and the Mannes School of Music, she went on to study with pianist Mal Waldron.
She moved to Israel in 1968, receiving a Bachelor of Arts and Music degree from the Hebrew University's Rubin Academy of Music and Dance.
Magnes soon became one of Israel's most dynamic jazz pianists, performing in major venues in Israel, Europe and the US.
