Israel protests against Swiss gas deal with Iran

Swiss Ambassador to Israel, Walter Heffner, was summoned to the office of Deputy Director for Western Europe at the Foreign Ministry, Rafi Barak, for a clarification following a visit by Swiss Foreign Minister to Iran to celebrate the signing of a gas deal between the two nations.

In the meeting, Barak said that Israel regretted the Swiss foreign minister's visit to Israel and saw it as an unfriendly act. He added that "following the UN Security Council's decision and while the international community is acting for Iran to halt its nuclear program, this is not the appropriate time to advance business deals with Iran."
