Fashion in the old days

Photos from fashion show held in Jerusalem in 1944, documented by photographer Miko Schwartz give us a peek at clothes worn at time of British Mandate

In 1944, a fashion show for women's clothing was held at the al-Ibahimia college on Jerusale's Salah al-Din Street. Photographer Miko Schwartz was invited to document the show, providing us with a peek at the style of that era in the Land of Israel – the models, the hairstyles and of course the clothes.

Here are some pictures of Jerusalem's feminine beauty at the time of the British Mandate, documenting garments which may also be suitable today – or at least serve as the main attraction in any Purim celebration.

As we have no information on the identity of the photographed people, please let us know through the talkback application if you recognize anyone you know, by using the number or letter accompanying each photo.

Happy Purim!
