President Shimon Peres said on Thursday that Israel must become a leader in the battle against global warming, for defense reasons as well as environmental ones.
Speaking at an event marking the commencement of Earth Hour 2008 in Tel Aviv, Peres said that energy is fodder for terrorism. "Every icecap that melts endangers humanity," said Peres. (Yael Ivri-Darel)
