Lebanon: Hizbullah protests block roads to enforce strike against government

Hizbullah-led opposition protesters are burning tires and blocking streets in central Beirut and on the road to the airport to enforce an anti-government labor strike.
Wednesday's labor strike has been called to demand pay raises, but it has turned into a confrontation between Hizbullah that has the backing of Iran and Syria, and the Western-backed government. Young opposition activists piled tires on some major highway in opposition-controlled areas of the city and its southern suburbs to set it afire early morning. Trucks brought in dirt and dumped in on the major highway to Beirut international airport to block access. (AP)
