UN: Cyclone damage in Myanmar liable to affect rice exports

The “Nargis” cyclone that hit Myanmar (Burma) on Saturday and caused major casualties and heavy damage is liable to affect the 2008 export of the country’s rice.

 

The storm, which caused the death of 22,000 people, badly damaged Myanmar’s rice fields which were expected to export 600,000 tons of rice throughout the year. (Reuters)
