Earlier Wednesday morning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem looked into a report from China saying that the two Israeli students,
with whom communication was lost during the strong earthquake in the southwestern Chinese province of Sichuan earlier this week, have been found.
Almost two full days have past since the disaster and tens of thousands of soldiers are trying to rescue people trapped under the wreckage.
Planes and trucks transported reinforcements of numerous soldiers to the area. The number of casualties continues to rise and has reached 13,000. The fear is that the number may rise by many thousands since there are still 18,000 people missing.
Earlier Wednesday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that according to an initial report, the two Israelis were found in the village they were touring.
As of Tuesday night, five Israelis that were in the earthquake had not yet contacted their families in Israel.
