First groups of climbers scale Mount Everest since climbing ban lifted

Mountaineering officials say climbers have scaled Mount Everest, becoming the first ones to climb the world's highest peak since a ban on climbing was lifted earlier this month.
Tourism Ministry official Dinesh Adhikari says officials have received reports that several climbers reached the 29,035-foot summit Wednesday morning. The climbing ban on Everest was lifted May 9, a day after Chinese climbers took the Olympic torch to the summit from the northern side of the peak. (AP)
