French FM: Afghan reconciliation must involve talks with Taliban

The French foreign minister says Afghanistan's US-backed government will one day need to hold reconciliation talks with insurgents from the former Taliban regime.
Bernard Kouchner says it's up to Afghan President Hamid Karzai's government to decide "whether or not to speak with the adversary" - but says such talks would be premature now because security is poor in Afghanistan.(AP)
