Spinning with the best of them

Social change groups sign up for Israeli Center for Strategic Communications' media marathon. Pushing a social agenda, says center, means learning how to spin like a pro

Agenda, the Israeli Center for Strategic Communications, will be holding its fourth annual Media Marathon in June, aimed at educating the heads of various organizations and groups pushing for social change, on the inner workings of the media.

Among the organization which have already signed up for the two-day dash are Green Course, WIZO, The Association for Civil Rights in Israel, the Working and Studying Youth Movement, the Worker's Hotline and the National Council for Volunteering in Israel, to name a few.

"The main goal of the marathon is to teach and practice as many practical ways of working with the media as possible," said Orit Agami, of Agenda's strategic communications and organizational training department.

"Organizations get to learn about what makes the different media divisions tick, their constraints and how to create a productive, effective working relationship with them.

"Our main goal in these workshops, is for the social organizations to learn how to get their message out there correctly and in a professional manner; which can only help them achieve their goals," she added.

Guiding the attendants through the jungle of modern media will be some of Israel's prominent figures in radio, television and the printed press, the likes of former Editor-in-Chief of Haaretz Daily Hanoch Marmari, revered photojournalist Alex Levac, prominent media personalities Yaron Dekel, Anat Saragusti, Einat Fishbein, Jackie Khoury and Arnon Gal, and many more.

Agenda's Media Marathon will be held on the 15 and 16 of June. Registration is available on the center's website.
