Qaeda's Zawahri: Mubarak is a traitor
'Brother from Gaza refused entry (to Egypt) while Israeli tourist allowed in without a visa,' says group's No. 2 in newly launched audio tape urging Palestinian terrorists to increase suicide, rocket attacks as only solution for Israel occupation
"The brother from Gaza is refused entry (by Egypt), while an Israeli tourist is allowed to enter without a visa," said the speaker who sounded like earlier recordings of Zawahri, blasting Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak as "traitor".
He also urged Palestinians to step up suicide and rocket attacks, saying they were the only way to end Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip. "Step up your martyrdom-seeking operations, and increase your missiles and ambushes, as there is no solution but this," he said.
The 11-minute message, issued on Islamist websites, marked the June 1967 Six Day War, which Zawahri said "unveiled that (Arab) regimes had no principles ... except holding on to their seats (of power)."
In an earlier recording taped a month and a half ago, al-Zawahri criticized Hamas' agreement to reach a truce with Israel that would seek approval through a Palestinian referendum. Zawahri said such a poll was in direct violation of Islam. He also threatened to harm the Western countries involved in the war in Iraq.
Another tape was revealed in early April, wherein Zawahri threatened to "harm Jews in Israel and around the world." He also called the UN the "enemy of Islam", and said he supported the attack on the United Nations' headquarters in New York.
"The UN is the enemy of Islam. We promise our Muslim brothers to do everything in our power to harm Jews in Israel and around the world, with the help and guidance of Allah," he announced.
