Olympics: Japan's PM elated at Tokyo 2016 shortlisting

Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda expressed elation that Tokyo had been shortlisted to host the 2016 Olympics but bid leaders insisted there was still a mountain to climb.

"I am elated Tokyo has been chosen as a candidate city for the 2016 Olympics," Fukuda said on Thursday. "The government is united in support of the bid and sincerely hopes to bring the Games to Japan."  (Reuters)
