MTV launches international segue competition
Music Channel launched worldwide contest calling for young designers to submit 30-second clip for programs' commercial breaks. Israeli students invited to apply
Regular MTV watchers are familiar with the creative segues inserted between the channel’s videos and programs. Years of production at all of MTV’s stations have turned these clips to symbols identifiable with the station.
This year, for the first time ever, MTV has invited students from countries around the world to design the segues inserted between the broadcasts. The competition is called "Break" and is open to Israeli students.
MTV reported that the “competition’s goal is to find a short film for MTV’s next international artistic campaign. The point is to create a 30-second original clip ending with the station’s logo and including various techniques such as cinematic and animation, etc. The chosen film will be screened as an artistic segue between programs and videos on all of MTV’s stations worldwide.”
The contest in Israel is currently underway and will end on August 31st. The films entering the world finals will be chosen by a special committee appointed by the station’s Israeli editorial board. Members of the committee will consist of cinematographers, artists, animators, and leading newspapers.
Many schools and students of design have been contacted recently. All people interested in applying should do so via this site.
