New tribute album featuring Voice of Peace oldies to aid Abie Natan
The Voice of Peace radio station may have docked 15 years ago, but it’s still alive and kicking. Following the regional Radius radio station dedicating air time to music played on 100FM - previously belonging to The Voice of Peace, and even employing broadcasters from the glorified station – Phonokol Records has published a double album titled "The Voice of Peace."
The album has sold nearly 20,000 copies to date and has been crowned the most selling international album in 2007.
Following the high demand, ratings and Natan’s health condition, a second volume featuring more of the station’s all-time favorites is on the way, with hits by Elvis Presley, The Bee Gees, The Eagles, The Platters, Al Stewart, The Steve Miller Band, Fleetwood Mac, America, Don McLean and others.
The songs include "I Wish You Peace", played daily at sunset, "Greenfields Horse", "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", "With No Name" and more.
Revenues from both volumes will be transferred to a fund under the name of Abie Natan, who has been living in protected tenancy in Tel Aviv and is suffering from severe health problems. Nathan was also hospitalized for a while recently.
“The demand from the audience is outrageous,” said Phonokol’s spokesman Oren Barel, who put together the albums. “Records shows that the Voice of Peace's daily track attracts a large audience, mostly aged 30-something. “In fact, in our playlist era, we have found that the music played by The Voice of Peace still lures audiences.”
Meanwhile, Abie Natan’s friends have begun preparation for a grand tribute event in his honor to be held in the upcoming months.
