The Iranian Embassy in Beirut issued a statement regarding the four Iranian diplomats missing since 1982, expressing its mistrust in the information to be provided by Israel as part of the prisoner swap deal with Hizbullah, the London-based al-Hayat newspaper reported Thursday.
“The four diplomats are still alive and are held in the enemy’s (Israel) prisons,” the statement read. Iran also placed the responsibility for handling the matter on the international community. “This affair has never been a political matter, but a diplomatic one, and its handling falls on the shoulders of the international community,” the announcement went on to say.
