Tropical Storm Bertha forms off coast of Africa

Tropical Storm Bertha has formed in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa. At 5 pm (EDT) Thursday, Bertha was centered about 105 miles southwest of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands. Forecasters say the storm is causing squally weather across those islands.

The second named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season is moving toward the west-northwest at about 12 mph and forecasters expect that to continue for the next couple of days. (AP)
