Irish pilgrims to celebrate St. Patty's in Israel
Some 3,000 Irish tourists headed to Israel this summer, with a special note for Arkia Israel Airlines: More booze, please
Good news for local pubs: Thousands of Irish tourists are on their way to Israel – and they’re thirsty. St. Patrick’s Day will be launched early this year for local Israeli joints, and “promises” to last throughout the hot summer.
At least 3,000 pilgrims are expected to land in Israel this summer, and aside from visiting the holy Christian sites, they are also planning to visit sites holy to the Irish: Pubs.
Irish pilgrims aged 45 to 65 will be flying into Israel on 14 different flights operated by Arkia Israel Airlines, which runs regular Tel-Aviv-Dublin flights. The pilgrims will visit the famous holy sites of Jerusalem, Tiberias, The Dead Sea, etc.
Considering themselves devoted Christians closely tied to Israel and Judaism, the pilgrims will stay in Israel for two to three weeks. Some of them are coming from Cork, Knock, Shannon and Belfast, Northern Ireland’s capital.
The Irish pubs in Israel are not the only ones going on an alcohol alert: The Irish pilgrims asked Arkia to add more alcohol to their special flights to Israel and even up the variety of alcohol labels sold on the in-flight Duty Free service.
